What Is Orthopedic Massage?

Why should you choose me instead of another massage therapy service?

I use the discipline of Orthopedic Massage.

Orthopedic Massage is an approach to pain-management and injury assessment and treatment rather than a single massage technique. Simply put, it is "... the clinical assessment of soft-tissue injury and dysfunction, and the skillful use of a wide variety of manual therapeutic techniques aimed at alleviating those dysfunctions."

Goals of Orthopedic Massage

  • dissolve adhesions
  • normalize the position of the soft tissue and release its torsion
  • lengthen the connective tissue
  • hydrate the joints
  • facilitate normal neurological function by muscle energy techniques
  • release entrapment of the peripheral nerves.

Orthopedic Massage is an extremely effective massage therapy.

I spend time with you

I take the time to look at your overall health, first with a health intake, and then with a trained eye to your body, how you stand, sit, walk, and how you do your work. I listen. I observe, and I connect with you.

I assess you

Assessing your body, its motion (and lack thereof) is my first step in helping you back to wellness. I find out where your motion is constricted, which motions cause you pain or stiffness, and I take a look at any postural distortions you may be living with on a regular basis which contribute to your pain.

I alleviate your soft-tissue dysfunctions

Once we have an idea of the patterns that are at work in your body due to your work, leisure, and sleep habits, I then address the underlying causes of pain and discomfort that you are experiencing.

I do this by:

  • increasing the range of motion and fluidity in the joints
  • returning the contractile tissues to their normal working resting lengths through stretching and muscle energy techniques
  • resolving Myofascial Trigger Points which can cause chronic pain and restrictions of motion

I apply the proper modality, matching its physiological effect with the physiology of your soft-tissue process: I do the right thing at the right time.

We create your personalized wellness plan together

Let me work with you to create your plan for wellness. Based on your experience, your needs, and your budget, we can come provide you with a wellness massage program that fits all of your needs.

I don't try to sell you anything but good health

I am not in the business of selling you anything; I am in the business of being a good massage therapist. Occasionally I may recommend reading materials or videos, but I am not affiliated with any outside organization, nor do I make money from anything I recommend. I simply want you healthy, and I recommend tools to get you there.
